With Moment, you can get the five seconds of video gold you’ve been waiting for, without clogging your storage while you wait.
Almost never almost full
Moment solves a simple problem—the desire to catch a key instant on camera, at times when we can’t be sure exactly when that key instant is going to happen.
Of course, non-stop filming can fill up a device’s hard-drive rather quickly. This can lead to the dreaded ‘Storage Almost Full’ system warning.
Once that appears, the only solution is to delete apps and media as quick as you can. Then, switch back to your camera before you miss your magic moment.
From infinity to 5 seconds
The genius of Moment is in the way it combines a basic video capture function with video purging.
Aim an iPhone or iPad camera at the action, then keep your finger on the Moment record button as you wait for seconds, minutes or potentially hours.
Then, release your finger as soon as you catch the instant you want. The app keeps only the final five seconds as a handy clip of a manageable size. It discards everything that came before it.
If you want to keep ten seconds instead of five, a little tweak to the app’s settings makes it so.
Simple solution = broad appeal
Developer Eun Seong Kim explains that Moment was inspired by encountering constant storage problems while attempting to capture key instants from sporting events. Indeed, that seems likely to be one of the main consumer motivations for grabbing this small but effective app.
The app will also have strong appeal to other markets, including pranksters awaiting victim reaction shots and pet-owners who think their cat’s antics deserve to go viral.
Moment, from developer is exclusively available on iOS devices. It costs $4.49 from the official Australian iTunes App Store.
