Facebook has announced its new endeavour to connect users with restaurants via third-party ordering services.
Social networked meals to go
With people already using Facebook to figure out where to eat, the social giant is officially launching its own ability to order for pickup and delivery.
Along with shared photos of fine dining and posts regarding restaurant reviews, the ability also order through a Facebook Page seems like a natural progression.
Facebook will be combining options from other food ordering services like ChowNow and Delivery.com, while partnering with restaurant chains including Jack in the Box, Papa John’s, Five Guys, and Panera.
Not just for the big names
In addition to working with the larger chains, Facebook is looking to showcase local spots as well. You’ll even be able to check out what restaurants your friends have been visiting, and what they had to say.
To access, you will only need to hit the Explore tab and click on the Order Food option. The Page will prompt with food options and then you need only select Start Order when ready.
Next, you’ll be shown if your chosen restaurant supports takeout or delivery. Technically, when placing an order, users will be logging in with a third-party service without having to leave the Page.
With food order apps on the grow, Facebook’s appetite for new business may be timed just right.
Would you order meals through Facebook? Do you have an existing account with any of the above third-parties? Let us know what you think in our comment section below.
