Pinterest has just launched a new way for marketers to connect with well-heeled pinners: Promoted Videos.
Promo spot
Promoted Videos work in a slightly different way to similar offerings from Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.
Pinterest's custom video player runs the ads, which appear as animated posts. You can pick stills from the start of the video that will appear in a post promoting the video on social platforms.
Beneath the viewing pane, Pins link to products featured in the video.
Users can fast-forward, rewind, and reply scenes using swiping gestures.
Pin position
Pinterest says that 55% of its 100 million monthly users visit the platform to shop or browse for products – while just 12% of users do so on other platforms.
With two-thirds of Pinterest content now coming from brands, Promoted Video could prove a new way to covert Likes to cash.
