Snapchat battles to keep influencers from Instagram

Snapchat is reaching out to many of their key influencers, in order to bolster ad revenue and put a stop to a depletion of users.

Hanging on to users is no longer a snap

The latest earnings report of Snapchat’s model has shown they are slowly losing users to their top competition: Instagram.

To fight back, the messaging app has reached out to top influencers like Cyrene Quiamco (better known as CyreneQ) by offering her own “Official Stories” account, traditionally reserved for A-list celebrities.

The newly offered perk also includes an improved position within Snapchat’s search results. The new strategy is a bid to promote members of Snapchat’s own community which is really the core of the app.

Never gonna give you up

With the constant back and forth of feature competition, from Stories to brand deals, Instagram has become a significant obstacle to Snapchat.

The slow-building exodus has been cited as the result of creators becoming disillusioned with Snapchat’s lack of community interaction.

The new incentives being offered to Snapchat influencers like CyreneQ could turn the tide but requires the app to re-attract users who have already left. The approach is proactive and savvy in engaging its own community. Is it too little too late?

Have you migrated to Instagram from Snapchat? Do you think this is a step will win back influencers? Give us your thoughts in the comments below.
