Coke vs Pepsi. Star Wars vs Star Trek, Crunchy vs Smooth Peanut Butter.
In the history of colossal battles, Snapchat vs Instagram mightn't quite stack up, but many a marketer will be considering where best to spend those precious campaign dollars.
So today we're stacking up both platforms in a virtual face off.
On first impressions, Snapchat is way out of Instagram's weight division.
Instagram has 500 million monthly active users and 300 million daily active users, compared to Snapchat's 150 million daily active users.
Instagrammers generate 4.2 billion likes every day, while over 95 million videos and photos are shared.
For comparison, over 400 million snaps are sent every day. And 10 billion videos are viewed.
User make up
Instagram is evenly split when it comes to the sexes, with a 51% male and 49% female user base.
Conversely, Snapchatters are 70% female.
Instagram maintains a wider reach than Snapchat.
While over one third of Snapchatters reside in the US or Canada, over 80% of Instagrammers live outside of the US.
