While Facebook has made great advances in video over the past two years, YouTube remains the undisputed king of online moving pictures.

A report from eMarketer estimates that YouTube now has 180.1 million users in the US, and that 85% of digital viewers are on YouTube.
Alphabet, YouTube's parent company, recently posted Q4 revenue figures showing 22% growth year-on-year. YouTube was a major contributor to that increase.
Glass ceiling?
However it's not all good news. eMarketer predicts YouTube is near saturation levels in the US, leading to a growth forecast of 3.2% in 2017.
While YouTube's premium service YouTube Red has seen growing user numbers, it faces continuing competition from subscription services such as Netflix and Spotify. And then there's Facebook.
