Wavespot helps brands turn customers into Facebook fans

Social service Wavespot is helping local merchants benefit from social media marketing by exchanging free Wi-Fi for getting ‘liked’ on Facebook.

Patrons get the benefit of free Wi-Fi, which is becoming an expectation among shoppers, and merchants are rewarded the social recommendation of the post on the patron’s home page, as well as a new fan for ongoing marketing and communication.

Wavespot works with the installation of a Wavespot router and access point, as well as the cloud service to manage the transactions. The current Wavespot offering connects patrons to Facebook, but can be adjusted to support other social media platforms as well.

When a customer enters the store or restaurant they can connect to the Wi-Fi network by simply logging in via their Facebook login, without the need to direct patrons all over the internet. The Wavespot router not only manages the secure Wi-Fi connections, but also provides activity reporting back to the merchants.

Marketing perks

Wavespot enables valuable C2C marketing wherein local businesses can insert marketing messages in a customer’s timeline that will appear as social recommendations in the Newsfeed of the customer’s Facebook friends.

The brand’s message is virally promoted the moment the customer logs in to the Wavespot Wi-Fi, and merchants can also share further specials and daily deals with their new Facebook fans.

“Social Media Marketing is now an effective tool for the local merchants, no longer just the big brands,” says Jasbir Singh, President of Wavespot. “Local merchants can now convert more of their patrons into Facebook fans, benefit from the social sharing and ongoing communications with them.”
