YouTube has officially brought its Dark Theme to the mobile platform, and Apple users will be happy to know they are first in line.
Power saver
Since the introduction of a darker theme to the YouTube web platform, users have been anxiously awaiting to bring the new tint to their mobile device.
Since March, Apple users gained access to the new colourless theme with Android users due to receive the same treatment in the coming weeks.
Not only does the new theme look cool, but it also conserves battery life for devices with an OLED display, even though true black would save just a little more.
Shades of grey
Technically the new scheme is dark grey, not black, but still a welcome option to the blinding white of YouTube’s traditional layout.
The feature can be toggled off and on through the YouTube app settings. Some critics are surprised Google hasn’t gone with a total black, oppose to dark grey, but the dimmer style has been well received none the less.
Are you ready to go dim? Do you think its odd Google updates Apple before their own Android devices? Let us know in our comments section.
