While certain wags have harped about the death of TV for ages, new data shows there’s life in the old girl yet.
YouTube has released a report showing how the TV screen is being given a new lease on life, thanks to online content.
Watch this space
People are increasingly watching streaming content on their TVs, and the time people spend watching YouTube on their TV has doubled over the past year.
In fact, two out of three YouTube viewers now watch content on their set.
Ratings winner
Interestingly, YouTube peak times mirror those of broadcast television.
Most of us tune in between 6pm and 10pm during the week, while weekends are the most popular time to YouTube and chill.
Come together
Watching YouTube on TV tends to be more of a social experience.
Over 60% of people watching YouTube on their TV do so with others, compared to around 30% of YouTube views on mobile and computer.
With Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Apple, and Snapchat throwing their hat into the video streaming ring, don’t expect the TV set to go away anytime soon.
How do you prefer to view streaming video? Let us know in the Comments.
