Just when you thought networks couldn't think of any more uses for them, Twitter now lets brands target ads based on emojis.
Smiley Face
Now advertisers can target users how have tweeted using emojis, or engaged with emoji-loaded tweets.
The feature uses emoji activity as a signal of a user's mindset or mood. Twitter promises this will unlock "unique opportunities" for marketers.
Thumbs Up
For example, if a user tweets with food emojis, there's now scope for brands to market food-related ads to them.
Twitter also says the feature will help brands connect with users, based on their passions.
The emoji targeting is powered through Twitter's official partners including AdParlor and Social Code.
