DIGITAL MARKETING NEWS

Etsy weddings

Crafty brides and grooms have often turned to Etsy for hand-made finishing touches to their wedding outfits, gifts and décor. Now they can park their registry at Etsy too.

Etsy recently appointed Melbourne-based Community Manager Kirsteene Phelan. Now they’ve launched a weddings site with contributions from wedding bloggers throughout the international community. Phelan walked us through Etsy’s new weddings offerings.

New look

The Etsy weddings site, unlike the main Etsy site, take s a decidedly editorial style – with the Australian site scrolling through hero images from an Aussie wedding to decorations and apparel.

Stories and Advice

Continuing the editorial theme, are a range of posts offering advice on everything from save-the-date notes to frank pieces on the heartaches of negotiating a guest list. The Etsy community shines here with pages of comments offering their own advice and encouragement.

Trends

Edited stories of trends from shoe clips to animal motifs and alternative bouquets are curated, providing ideas and overcoming the overwhelming aspect of Etsy’s range of seller’s products.

Real life weddings

Real life weddings of people in the Etsy community are presented – serving to engage readers and provide food for thought for brides and grooms. Phelan keeps an eye out for upcoming Australian Etsy members weddings. The high-quality images available from most weddings are perfect for these spreads.

Registry

Etsy comes into its own with the new Wedding Registry – an easy to use gift registry for couples (which will no doubt soon be used for birthdays and other events) allows people to flag bespoke gifts for their guests to purchase. An easy-to-use interface allows the couple to monitor which gifts have been purchased, while a link makes shopping easy for guests.

It’s not yet known if a vanity url for invites will be available.

From this day forth

Etsy has done a fantastic job of engaging their community in the wedding space, and providing much-needed edits of Etsy product.
