Facebook users really like small businesses, and 1.6 billion people around the world have used the platform to connect with one.
Going big on small
Facebook is trying to make it easier than ever for users to recommend, connect, find, and even look for employment with the latest update to Pages.
First, Pages is being redesigned on mobile to make interaction with local business more fluid and easier to find, from reservations at a restaurant, to booking a salon appointment, and so on.
Community is a core component to going local, and Facebook wants users to be able to recommend local eateries and shops more prominently.
Bring the people together
More than 700 million people use Facebook Events every month, and many purchased tickets directly through Facebook or the Event itself.
Facebook is also expanding its jobs tool to help users reach out to local business that make up more than 60% of new jobs with a new job application tool.
Going Local is also being streamlined with Facebook’s standalone Facebook Local app for surrounding businesses. Connecting is about to get an efficiency upgrade.
