Here's something that's taken longer to happen than might be expected.
Facebook is testing a feature that unifies notifications across Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Sorry WhatsApp, you don't make the cut this time.
Family First
This means if you get a Like on Instagram, you'll be notified on Facebook or Messenger. Conversely, if there's a chat happening on Messenger, you'll now be alerted on Facebook or Instagram.
An icon will let you instantly switch between apps, to action the notification as required.
Stir crazy
The update could certainly boost engagement across Facebook's family of top performing platforms. Indeed the platform successfully split, then re-integrated, Facebook and Messenger.
However, it's also conceivable that receiving a ceaseless torrent of alerts could be similar to existing in the seventh level of Hades.
Stay tuned to see where we all end up!
Would you like cross-app notifications? Let us know why/why not in the Comments.
