It’s been a decent month for Facebook.
Messenger recently passed the 1 billion mark. Now it transpires that Facebook owns 67% of social media ad spend.
Hey Big Spender
According to research from eMarketer, Facebook is set to pocket US$22.3 billion in net ad revenues by the end of 2016. This is up from a healthy US$17 billion last year.
Coming in a distant second is Twitter with 7.9% share, while 24% is attributed to Other sources.
Mountains of moolah
Interestingly, the majority of these ad revenues are expected to come from outside the US.
While the figures are impressive, don’t expect a slow down anytime soon.
Remember that Facebook has yet to monetise Messenger and WhatsApp, which both have over 1 billion users.
