Always one to define or buck trends, Facebook has announced an update to the way it handles hot content.
The Trending results page has been redesigned.
Stay on Target
Aside from a sleeker look, the page makes it easier to discover what various publications are saying about trending and breaking news.
For example, if Donald Trump’s tweets are in the news again, you’ll be able to see reports from publishers such as The Washington Post and The New York Times.
Until now, you could only see what your friends or public figures said about trends.
Mobile mojo
Facebook will soon begin a test in the News Feed showing the top three Trending Stories. This is designed to make discovering trends on mobile more accessible.
The update crosses two notches off for Facebook: combating fake news by introducing users to a wider array of voices, and stealing some trending topic real estate from Twitter.
