They say two hands are better than one. But how about two platforms?
Google Play Music thinks so, and has teamed up with TripAdvisor to provide playlists for popular tourist destinations.
Music to your ears?
Music and travel lovers can now access a variety of playlists via TripAdvisor’s Android app.
The feature is available in over 60 countries, with top picks including New York, London, Paris, and Montreal.
The playlists are supposed to give a more authentic experience for tourists. For example listening to punk rock in a New York dive bar, or something energetic ahead of the Rio Olympics.
Twist and shout
Google is casting a wide net with this one.
Users who aren’t Google Play music subscribers and download the playlists get two months free access to the service. After that prices start from US$9.99 per month.
While a similar service is offered by Spotify, it’ll be interesting to see whether the pulling power of Google and TripAdvisor can convert music lovers into monthly subscribers.
