A recent Harris Poll reveals that social media may be at an all time high, but usage doesn’t translate to appreciation for the medium.
America loves to hate social media
The recent poll surveying 2000 adult online users stated that out of 89% who were familiar with Twitter, 43% were in favour and 46% wished it would “die.”
Proving social media isn’t going anywhere,64% of users said they were in favour of Facebook with 32% being against.
It also appears that love is waning for dating apps like Tinder, with 43% polled wishing they could swipe left on the entire app altogether.
No wait, America hates to love social media
Platforms engrained in our everyday life received a more favourable reaction, including Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Music streaming platforms Pandora and Spotify were also popular.
As popular opinion shapes usage, it's possible that platforms have heard the call and a healthier social media culture could be in the making. Maybe.
