Instagram prepares to launch new Business Tools

Like the long-promised winter in Game of Thrones, business tools are coming…to Instagram.

Biz schiz

In a recent blog post, Instagram outlined its soon-to-be released new features for brands.

"With so many companies using Instagram, and many people on the platform interacting with them, there was a desire from our business community to do more. So we listened.

"And, after hundreds of interviews with businesses, three key needs became clear—stand out, get insights and find new customers."

Business Profiles

Brands will soon have access to Business Profiles on Instagram.

These profiles will allow brands to determine how users contact them: via call, text, or email through the Contact button. Business Profiles unlock the next two tools, Insights and Promote.

Insights

As the name suggests, Insights gives brands metrics about their followers, and best-performing posts.

At this stage there's not much info about how deep this data digs, but don't expect it to be as powerful as Facebook Insights – at least for now.

Promote

The Promote tool lets you turn popular posts into ads, directly from the app.

Audiences can be targeted, or Instagram can suggest user groups for you.

Ads can also feature a button that prompts users to take a certain action. And it looks like we Antipodeans are in esteemed social company.

Business Tools will be rolling out in the US, Australia and New Zealand in the coming months, with a global release by the end of the year.
