Integration between Slack and Google Drive is taking a visual step forward, letting administrators see exactly what’s going on.
Two-way notifications
For a while now, teams that use the Google Drive integration for Slack have been able to look in Slack to see activity notifications of changes made to files via Google Drive.
Now, after quite some wait, the inverse function is also ready to go.
As of now, Google Drive will show activity events associated with a file that have happened in Slack. The events of note include shares of/links to files and mentions/comments about shared files.
Productive partnerships
These sorts of project management and collaboration tools are designed to facilitate productivity, but the real news here is on the emerging productive partnership between Slack and Google products.
While it’s true that Google was an investor in Slack, they are not the majority owners.
Even still, the ongoing linkages between Slack and Google’s suite of products—especially Drive—is tying them together intimately, in a way often reserved for products from a single production house.
Sure, they Slack and Drive work fine as separate services. But when blended together, what was once a tenuous connection is now looking seamless.
Does Google integration with other apps influence your selection of third-party service providers?
