In the near future, Messenger chatbots will be able to work with clients and customers with a new array of artificial personalities.
AI with attitude(s)
A newly released plugin for Messenger will make customer integration with chat platforms and WordPress sites more efficient, thanks to the new Persona application-programing interface.
No, you will not be dealing with AI suffering from split personalities, but rather Messenger bots will employ one persona at a time by a case-by-case basis.
Requests for an integrated customer chat plugin have been coming down the pipe for some time, as preloaded message tags and responses were limited to generic templates.
What Facebook had to say
According to David Cohen, Messenger's product marketing manager, “We hope this opens up new possibilities for how you send non-promotional messages via tags…and follow all relevant Messenger Platform policies.”
Though the AI is getting more advanced, admins will still oversee how and when it can be employed in active message conversations. Who knows, with time, maybe the human element will be removed altogether.
What are your thoughts on AI’s with different personas? Would you rather deal with programmed traits or deal with a live agent? Give us your thoughts in the comments below.
