Messenger has unveiled its glowing new brain. Simply called M, Messenger's AI is designed to make your experience more "delightful" – if you believe Facebook's press release.
Brainiac
M makes suggestions on additional features you might want to use in Messenger, based on your conversations.
For example, if you're planning to meet up with friends, M can suggest a way to share your location. If you owe your mum $10, M might quietly recommend its payments service. Looking to get somewhere? M might offer to hail an Uber.
Fine line
M has been in development for over a year, and designed to show that Messenger has a lot more bells and whistles than just SMS.
However, Facebook's engineers will have to dance a fine line between M providing useful titbits, or risk becoming the next Clippy.
Do you think AI on Messenger is a good thing, or annoying? Share your thoughts in the Comments.
