Twitter has struck a new deal with media and entertainment providers to ad “hundreds of hours” of live-streaming and video highlights.

In a bid to generate more content and keep users engaged in-app, Twitter has partnered with Sony Music, Fox Sports Asia, and Vice.
By 2020, Twitter projects that the platform will generate over 1 billion views in videos.
The new partnerships will expand video content already available to audiences and marketers of the Asia Pacific regions, which includes highlights from UEFA, Formula One, and live Red Carpet events.
Big name buddies
Red Chillies Entertainment and NBC Universal are also among the new faces partnering with Twitter. The cooperative approach will see greater ad revenue and a new form of revenue sharing.
Online video consumption is predicted to hit 2.38 billion users in the coming year, according to research firm eMarketer.
Competitors of online streaming like Facebook and YouTube or also predicted to be heavy hitters in the coming years so if Twitter wants to remain competitive, now’s the time to start throwing hats in the ring.
