Pinterest has just announced a new feature called how-to Pins, designed to give users practical tips on everything from baking bread to crafting keepsakes – and keep them on the platform for longer.
How-to Pin to win
Pinterest announced the news in a blog post.
"Today we’re introducing how-to Pins—so you can see at a glance what a Pin might be like to try.
"The next time you find an interesting project or idea on Pinterest, you’ll see a snapshot of the steps right below the Pin image."
Learning curve
Users can tap on any of the steps and receive a full list of instructions and suppliers – all without leaving Pinterest's eco-system.
For the moment just a few dozen brands are featuring how-to Pins, including Style Me Pretty, Food.com, The Home Depot, and eHow.
Pinterest says 75% of its 100 million users visit the platform to find new ideas, while 67% of users express their creativity through pinning.
This update could keep those creative juices flowing, and see Pinterest's engagement levels rise accordingly.
