Reddit, the popular “front page of the internet” has traditionally maintained a famously minimalist design. Now that's all changed as part of a significant desktop UX upgrade.
Power save, go dark
Amidst the many sleepless users for the popular internet meta-crawler, the latest upgrades are set to include a dark themed viewing platform that will reek a little less havoc on mobile phone batteries.
There had been some blowback from users in pushing a new skin for the platform, but the theme is optional and makes native ads even easier to spot, which is a plus.
What’s coming
To access the new theme, users can toggle on the feature in the dropdown menu found to the top-right of the main page.
Though not a riveting update it is certainly a necessary one. Mobile friendly design complete with power saving themes is becoming the standard, and a sign that smartphones really are the frontier of web browsing.
