Roamz roams to desktop

Finding the best in food, entertainment and shopping just got a whole lot easier with the launch of location-based application Roamz for desktop.

From offline to on

Previously only available for mobile and portable devices such as smartphones and tablets, Roamz can now be accessed from desktop and laptop computers, making planning your next meal or night out a breeze.

Search just got smarter

Launched in 2011, Roamz was originally designed to perform a serendipitous search of what was going on in your local area.

The application’s founder Jonathan Barouch  soon realised people wanted a more specialised search and have since changed the apps focus to directed, local search.

Draw card

By typing a keyword and allowing the program to access your location, Roamz draws information from social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Foursquare, giving users a unique view of the social activity occurring nearby.

For example, if a user enters the search term “pizza”, Roamz will find chatter on social media channels about this topic. The results show you what people nearby are saying about places that match the interests on the various channels.

Users can then zoom in on the feed for greater detail and photographs of the activity, and can also save favourites for future reference.

Smart tech

The more Roamz app is accessed, with common searches and locations specified, the smarter it gets.

The app can also still be used in its serendipitous format for anyone wanting to be inspired in their decision making.
