Facebook has just launched Signal, a tool designed to help journalists uncover trending content on Facebook and Instagram.

Facebook announced Signal in a blog post. 

"Today we’re excited to introduce Signal, for Facebook and Instagram, a free discovery and curation tool for journalists who want to source, gather, and embed newsworthy content from Facebook and Instagram, across news, culture, entertainment, sports, and more—all in one place."

Signal works by giving journalists a dashboard with a range of news feeds showing trending topics in real time.

A feature called Emerging Trends shows topics that are on the verge of breaking.
