WhatsApp is being redesigned top to bottom to focus on customer and company communication.
WhatsApp means business
The new app is currently being labeled as WhatsApp Business and will enable Facebook, its parent company, to monetise the messenger platform.
According to COO Matt Idema, WhatsApp “want to put a basic foundation in place to allow people to message businesses and for them to get the responses that they want.”
With no official launch date on the books, the messenger re-do is still undergoing beta testing and has highlighted several features new to WhatsApp Business.
Customer Service 2.0
Users will be able to send messages directly to businesses via the WhatsApp platform. Businesses will be able to keep conversations completely separate from personal.
The platform will look nearly identical to the original, save for two new additions to the Settings Menu: Business Settings and Statistics.
It's rumoured that Brazil, India, and Indonesia are among the first to be testing the new app with Dutch Airlines being one of the largest enterprises trying the beta with more sure to follow.
