WhatsApp has announced some a new app that will be music to many a marketer's ear.
What’s Up? WhatsApp business, that’s what
WhatsApp is planning to release a new app, creatively called WhatsApp Small and Medium Business.
Users will be able to receive messages from businesses on the new app, as well as continue to use WhatsApp socially.
To avoid spammy content, users can decide which brands can send them messages.
A fit for any size
The business app will utilise “structured messages” with specially tagged information containing text, images, action items, and most notably, translations of the message.
Businesses will fall under two categories: Verified and Unverified. The former will have been vetted by WhatsApp, noted by a green badge and checkmark emoji. The latter will be supported but not sport the badge.
WhatsApp Small and Medium Business is due to be released later this year.
Do you use WhatsApp? What are your thoughts on having two seperate apps? Let us know what you think in the comment section.
