It was only a matter of time, really.
Yes, you can now order food on Facebook. So there's no longer any reason to leave the house now, is there?
Feed my Facebook
Select Facebookers are seeing a cute Hamburger icon on desktop and mobile. It's called "Order Food".
Clicking the icon lets you place food orders for delivery or pickup via Delivery.com or Slice. Supported restaurants include photos, ratings, cuisine type, and price range.
The whole process takes place on Facebook, rather than redirecting you to a third-party site or app.
Eat It
The trial comes as Facebook swims into new water, in a bid to keep users encased in the warm embrace of its eco-system.
To name just a few, Facebook has recently dipped its toes in job listings, travel guides, and local fundraising.
"Order Food' seems aimed at Uber Eats, which is currently a lot slicker and supports many more restaurants. But if it takes off, expect bigger meal deals in your News Feed. And you can bet Uber's watching with interest.
