It's not really a big surprise, but is landmark of sorts. New figures show more than half of digital screen time is spent on a mobile.
Mobile mash up
The data, released by IAB Australia and Nielsen, surveyed 15,000 Australian respondents and revealed 52% of digital screen time occurs on a mobile device.
The stats also showed that over a month the typical user spends 29 hours on their smartphone and 24 hours on their tablet.
Apps in demand
The majority of mobile screen time is taken up with apps, which are dominated by social and gaming activities.
Australians are also addicted to news on the go, with 14% of users accessing news sites via their mobile device, compared to 11% of US users.
TV not dead
IAB Australia predicts mobile will soon account for 25% of digital display adverting in Australia.
However there's still another screen that continues to comfortably dominate our viewing: the humble television.
Broadcast TV accounts for 57% of total monthly screen time (or 93 hours), ahead of mobile (22%) and desktop (21%).
