Twitter has released new research which shows adding content like photos and videos can boost tweet reach.
Photo finish
Twitter announced the news in a post on its media blog, explaining it had analysed the content of millions of tweets from verified users across the US.
It found users responded most favourably to tweets with photos. For example if a journalist gets around 100 retweets per post, a photo can increase that average by 27 per cent.
A close second behind photos came quotes, which boosted the average to 25 per cent.
Link up
Taking out the remaining top places were tweets with numbers (22 per cent), video URLs (15 per cent) and hashtags (14 per cent).
Take your pick
The findings show there’s more than one way to get traction on Twitter – without paying for advertising.
It’s also another way for brands and marketers to increase engagement in the increasingly noisy world of tweets.
