Facebook is expected to be closing the deal for the first batch of news programming for their video platform, Watch.
Keep on eye on Facebook
Putting a cap on spirited discussions and shifts in strategy, Facebook is bringing content from Fox News and CNN to Watch.
The news programs under negotiation could be announced in the coming weeks, with an official launch set for July.
Ethical standards
Facebook is trying to put its name behind strict ethical guidelines; with whispers of partnerships with News Corp’s Dow Jones & Co., BuzzFeed and digital media company ATTN. Group Nine Media’s NowThis plans to jump onboard too.
Since February, Facebook has been offering $1 million to as much as $3 million for year-long contracts.
Little has been finalised as far as payment structures for programming goes, but expect a flurry of news soon. Hopefully not fake news.
