Google+’s ever growing social media arsenal has been boosted by the introduction of Hangouts On Air, a video chat feature that takes users off the keyboard and into face-to-face-to-face communication.
For the record
While the current Hangout feature allows Google+ users to conduct video chats with up to ten friends, Hangouts on Air allows the conversation to be recorded and uploaded to the broadcaster's YouTube account.
Hangouts on Air is currently only available to public figures and people with large Google+ followings, with David Beckham recently holding a Hangout on Air interview with fans.
The service is expected to become available to all Google+ users shorty, and will also work through Google+ messenger in upcoming versions of Android and iPhone apps.
Does Facebook do that?
Along with the recent announcement of Search Plus Your World, Hangouts on Air is another point of difference Google is hoping will lure people to its fledgling social networking service.
