Instagram rolls out Business Tools

Welcome to Instagram Business, please come in and enjoy your new home for insights.

Revealed in June and announced as 'coming soon', Instagram's business tools are rolling out now across Australia, New Zealand and the US.

To mark the launch, Instagram has posted a series of help pages to introduce users to the tools.

Get started

A long-awaited feature for the increasing number of brands on the photo-first platform, users can change their account to a business profile through the Instagram app.

A business profile must be linked to a Facebook Page of which the user is an admin, but besides that step the process is as simple as it gets.

Once the contact and location details have been set, marketers can suck up the stats.

While the new insights are common across other social media platforms – impressions, reach, website clicks and follower activity – Instagram has outlined the differences, such as that impressions is the total views of a post and reach is the number of unique accounts to see a post.

Brand managers can also see a breakdown of their followers' gender, age and location.

Perhaps one of the more anticipated updates to come with the new business profiles is that admins can now promote posts directly from the Instagram app, and all that's required is to head to a previous post and confirm the audience, budget and duration.
