LinkedIn’s new look, improved analytics

LinkedIn's been as productive as its 225 million users recently, rolling out updates virtually every week over the past months.

The latest upgrades cover improved analytics and a new look for the “Who Viewed Your Profile” feature.

Who you looking at?

The “Who's Viewed Your Profile” feature, aside from appealing to human vanity, is a handy way to see who's been checking you out and a great way to make new contacts.

The pages now displays a list of users who have recently viewed your profile, accompanied by analytics covering views and how many times your profile has appeared in search.

In a nod to LinkedIn's march towards monetisation, the feature also includes a prompt for users to upgrade to a premium account and gain access to more detailed data.

Analyse this

Premium users now have access to which users have viewed their profile over the past 90 days, plus the industries and locations these searches originate from.

For example, premium users can see how other professionals are finding them through keyword search terms and be able to filter the results by weeks, making it easier to identify trends.

Linking in

The update comes as LinkedIn adds more bells and whistles to boost engagement on its site, which is lagging behind other platforms.

If LinkedIn can get more professionals to spend more time linking up, it'll mean more ad revenue for its increasing suite of advertising options.

And hopefully good networking for the rest of us.
