Australians love travel, bananas and banks when it comes to Facebook, according to a new report from The Online Circle.
The Australian Facebook Performance Report June 2013 analysed over 400 brands in May and June of this year to come up with the latest stats on the social network.
Here are some of the highlights.
Top Facebook Pages by fans
Perhaps fittingly, the Australia Facebook page is the country's most popular with 4,097,622 fans.
In second place comes Facebook juggernaut Bananas in Pyjamas (2,199,161), followed by Hamish and Andy (1,755,602), Pringles Australia (1,342,392) and Home and Away Official (1,080,984).
Top Industries by fans
Australians love to travel, even if sometimes we have to do it virtually. Airlines, Travel and Tourism is the most popular industry in the nation with an average of 8,832,189 fans.
Coming in a close second is TV programs (8,639,819), followed by FMCG – Snackfoods (6,063,340), Retail – Fashion (5,746,738) and Quick Serve Restaurants (4,224,708).
FMCG – Snackfoods
Whether it's the taste or the packaging is anyone's guess, but Pringles Australia remains the most popular snackfood in Australia with 1,342,392 fans. 5 Gum Australia & NZ is a distant second with 513,706 fans.
We're also pretty sweet on Cadbury Dairy Milk – Australia (486,090) and 337,480 Australians still love their Vegemite.
TV hits
Bananas in Pyjamas remain top of the pops when it comes to Facebook, with almost 2.2 million fans. Second place goes to Home and Away Official (1,080,984), a whisker (or whisk) ahead of Masterchef Australia (1,069,032).
The top five is finished off with The Voice Australia (506,851) and Neighbours (505,967).
Big Five?
Banks might be essential but aren't always loved, except on Facebook. The Commonwealth Bank leads the big four by a country mile when it comes to popularity with 429,199 fans, more than triple its nearest rival American Express Australia (132,014).
NAB comes in third with 95,197 fans, followed by Westpac (55,414) and ANZ Australia (35,833).
Automotive muscle
Some things don't change. Holden remains the most popular automative brand in Australia with just under 380,000 fans.
Making up the rest of field is Kia Australia (205,880), Hyundai Australia (148,709), Suzuki Australia (145,746) and Toyota Australia (138,350). For those wondering, Ford ranked in at unlucky 13.
European car makers rule when it comes to popular posts, with Mercedes-Benz Australia and BMW Australia creating the top post by likes and top post by comments respectively.
