Three things you didn’t know about LinkedIn

LinkedIn is sort of the like the daggy, sensible sibling when it comes to the social network family. Solid, reliable, never the type of place to broadcast anything about twerking.

But there's more to LinkedIn than meets the eye, as these recent stats from Entrepreneur Sky reveal.

1. LinkedIn is the biggest social driver

Sure Facebook and Twitter have the monopoly on Likes and retweets, but LinkedIn is top of the class when it comes to click-throughs to your web page.

According to Entrepreneur Sky, LinkedIn accounts for 64 per cent of all visits from social media channels to corporate websites. For comparison Facebook is responsible for 17 per cent and Twitter 14 per cent.

2. LinkedIn is the oldest major social platform

Facebook recently turned 10, but it's still a youngster compared to LinkedIn, which launched in 2003.

During that time LinkedIn has witnessed the rise and fall of many social networks, some greater than others (case in point: MySpace).

However over the last two years LinkedIn has really ramped up its recruitment efforts and now has over 200 million members across 200 countries.

There are over 4 million LinkedIn users in Australia alone.

3. LinkedIn's peak time is early morning

It makes sense that the social network for professionals is busiest before the traditional working day begins.

While tweets get more reach at night and Facebook posts favour mid-afternoon, LinkedIn posts get most traction between 7am – 9am.

Proving the early social bird gets the click-through.
