Twitter is trialling a new feature that links tweets and conversations via a thin, blue line.
Catching the thread
As reported in the Los Angeles Times, the new feature works by linking a tweet with a reply through a blue line on the news feed. The feature only activates when the user follows both the original poster and the user replying.
The update also includes more information under the “@” symbol, giving users insights into how many replies, favourites and new notifications they have.
Keep talking
The feature first appeared on Twitter's Android app last week, although Twitter has officially declined to comment.
If it rolls out, the blue line might encourage users to participate in conversations, while making it easier for brands to track conversations and how they evolve over the network.
Provided their background image isn't coloured blue, of course.
