New outrage over Twitter’s Terms of Service

Following a recent update to Twitter’s terms of service, US users were left outraged by wording many didn't realise had been in effect all along.

The writing is on the wall and has been for some time

Following an announcement of new terms coming into effect October 2nd, American tweeters are unimpressed with the update, to the bewilderment of Twitter.

The big changes? Very little, however the mention of embedded tweets and user-generated content being able to be offered as cross-promotion to other companies has got some users hot and bothered.

Twitter's ability to say, show user tweets during news broadcasts, is by no means new, and though included in the fresh statement of services, is not actually a change.

Same terms received as new game change

Twitter has long been enabling users and organisations to use content found on the site, such as embedded tweets.

The wording has changed but not the principle, meaning Twitter has the right to remove content in violation of Twitter’s user agreement and clarifies user liability, and the addition of a 30-day notice of changes.

Most of the update is meant for Europe along with a change in company address as headquarters are now situated in Dublin, Ireland. The new terms can be compared here.

Have you noticed the update announcement? Is there anything you have found to be unfavourable? Give us your thoughts in the comment section below.
