Google+ launches Pinterest competitor

You can accuse Google+ of many things, but lacking tenacity is not one of them.

After mixed attempts at grabbing eyeballs from Facebook and Twitter, the plucky network has launched a Pinterest-esque service Collections.

Click and collect

Google+ Collections lets users create boards comprised of images, video and other content that are based around a particular topic.

Users can also create multiple boards, share them privately or publicly, and follow other boards.

G-up

Collections will appear in the Home stream of Google+, and is being billed as a new way to learn more about other G+ users.

While it might not be as fashionable as Facebook or Twitter, Google+ does have a dedicated following. And Google's full backing.

Collections might provide brands with a new way to express themselves visually, albeit in a similar way to Pinterest.

The feature is now available on Android and the web, with iOS coming shortly.
