BuzzNumbers rolls out Aussie Twitter Search

Social media monitoring company BuzzNumbers has released Aussie Twitter Search, a web-based application that allows users to search Twitter for Australian-only results.

Filtering the Aussies out

Aussie Twitter Search works as an enhanced version of the filtering options already offered by Twitter. Search terms are matched with key words gleaned from the bios of Australian Twitter users.

The results are based on the influence of the relevant users; those with the highest number of followers will be displayed first. A full list available to be downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet.

Search local

Australian based marketers, advertisers, community builders and recruitment agencies will find benefits in Aussie Twitter Search.

The focus on Australian profiles may prove relevant to brands looking to connect with national audiences, as well offering new networking opportunities.

Through listing the most influential Twitter users, Aussie Twitter Search may also serve as a recruitment tool, and assist in finding 'influencers' within particular fields.

Going global?

Sentia Media, Asia Pacific's leading media intelligence company, recently acquired BuzzNumbers. In a statement Sentia Media's CEO John Croll said:

“BuzzNumbers social media monitoring solution complements our focus on timeliness, coverage, accuracy and insight for communications specialists.

“We look forward to working closely with Nick Holmes a’ Court (founder), Andy Gent (CEO) and their team to leverage their knowledge of the Australian social media landscape and their proven product, which has been specifically designed for this market.”

Whether Sentia Media will use the principals of Aussie Twitter Search in its overseas markets remains to be seen.
