Facebook recently announced their move toward corner-less Facebook profiles to create “a more engaging look for your page profile.”
The future is circular
According to Facebook’s Social Pro Daily page, profile pictures will be rounded in News Feed and Timeline sections, but remain square on users’ page covers.
The change follows the social media giant’s goal to make Facebook an increasingly engaging place, having found encouraging results in using a rounded profile picture within News Feed.
Though not a staggering change, the newly rounded personal images have been making ripples amongst users in preliminary tests.
Not the first to go round
Twitter also launched the smoothly comforting profile format back in June and found the redesign to favour usability and engagement as well.
It was discovered the threads and conversation were easier to follow, with the more rounded iconography accompanying various chats.
With Twitter making the switch and now Facebook, its safe to say the trend has become an industry standard. It is likely the world of social media will continue to be a bit more rounded if not a little less square.
How do you feel about the switch to rounded profile pics? Do you think it makes a difference? Give us your opinion in our comments section below.
