Google has taken to Twitter to formally announce a couple of new, social-style feature in its Photos app for Android, iOS and web.
Tweet your features
As if balancing a Trump bile-storm, Google has tweeted photos of smiling folks and puppies in sunnies.
In fact, the first of those is a screenshot on how to mark a photo as a favourite in Google Photos app. TL;DR: Tap the star.
The latter is a similar screenshot, but showing how to ‘give some love’, which is basically the equivalent of a ‘like’ feature. TL;DR: Tap the heart.
Say when
The tweets do show how to do it, but they also say the features are ‘coming soon’ rather than available now.
Yes, we first reported the probability that Photos would be integrating likes back in March 2018. Android Police found the dormant ‘favourite’ function hiding in the code way back in August 2017.
But, these tweets are the first formal statements from Google announcing them to the world.
New when?
We expect them to be live soon. What time is it now?
If you’re keen, make sure your Photos app has the most recent updates, then go look for the stars and hearts.
Google’s had these features ready to roll for a while, but has waited to bring them to market: what do you reckon is the strategy?
