Instagram has moved a little closer from mobile to desktop with a neat little update for Windows users.
Mix and Match
If you've got the Windows 10 app on your PC, you can now send photos and videos as Direct Messages on Instagram. You can also reply to DMs with photos and video.
At the moment, these desktop goodies can only be shared with contacts and in Group Conversations – no public posts for now.
Share to care
Somewhat paradoxically, photos and videos can only be shared from your phone via the app, not uploaded from your hard drive.
While the update isn't major, it hints that Instagram might be building a more robust desktop offering for public posting in the not-too-distant future.
