Facebook Messenger and others are being favoured to regular text thanks to their versatility of file and media sharing.
A new generation in communication
The social media giant has recently announced that over 1 billion users communicate with Facebook Messenger globally each month.
Chat apps are being favoured across all ages and Facebook is predicting their use to grow by 56% over the next two years, especially with the adoption of group messaging in addition to one-on-one.
According to Facebooks latest statistics, 65% of Millenials, 65% of Gen Xers, and 63% of Baby Boomers prefer messaging compared to phone or email.
The markets have spoken
Across 14 different markets, one in two users believe the flexibility of messaging improves relations, believing it to be more efficient, convenient, economical, and just plain fun.
The global village has continued to shrink as well with two in five users connecting via chat apps, generating a demand for in-app translation services.
Even business has seen a migration to messaging with 67% of users predicted to adopt the form over the next two years and 53% saying they are more likely to shop via chat app.
