We've all been there: wanted to press self-destruct on a Facebook post. Soon you might be able to.
Blow up
Facebook is reportedly testing a feature that allows mobile users to schedule posts to give live for a certain period – before being deleted.
A select group of users have reported seeing a “Choose Expiration” option when composing a post. Timeframes range from one hour to seven days.
“We’re running a small pilot of a feature on Facebook for iOS that lets people schedule deletion of their posts in advance,” Facebook explained.
Keeping up with the Joneses
It's unclear what type of post would warrant self-destruction, considering Facebook already has a delete option.
However it does make sense when considering Facebook's wider strategy of testing out new features that are Snapchat-esque. Or at least different enough to potentially lure some teen users back.
