In news that will surprise few, it now looks like half of the internet is now on Instagram. Well, almost.
Oh Snap
According to research from GlobalWebIndex, Instagram’s cracking rate of growth means close to 50% of internet users are Instagrammers.
This is a massive leap since the 17% adoption rate back in 2013.
World Wide Web
Interestingly, expansion in markets outside the US and China has seen Instagram grow by over 10 percentage points.
With over 500 million monthly active users and growing, expect Instagram to join Facebook, YouTube, and Messenger in the 1 billion club some time next year.
The news makes Facebook's US$1 billion acquisition of Instagram in 2012 seem like a bargain.
