Let's face it, a lot of social media isn't that kid friendly. Think sexting, targeted ads and anything involving Justin Bieber.
However Twitter is bucking the trend by launching Vine Kids – aimed squarely at tiny tots.
Child's Play
Twitter announced the news in a blog post.
"We’ve seen for ourselves – and heard from parents, siblings and others – that kids love Vine.
"So, we built Vine Kids, a simple new app that gives young children a fun way to watch Vines," Twitter explained.
Younglings
Vine Kids works in a similar fashion to the regular Vine app – six second looping videos. However the content is child-friendly, featuring a host of animated characters, animals and Sesame Street clips.
To navigate through new Vines kids swipe left of right, and when the screen is tapped a range of "quirky" sounds ring out.
Fresh faced?
While the app might not convince some parents to hand over their smartphone or tablet, if they can be assured their kids will be seeing appropriate content Vine Kids might prove a hit with mums and dads.
Vine Kids is now available for iOS. To find out more visit
