If you needed proof that no-one is above the occasionally social media misstep, consider the case of Anthony Noto.
Off message
The Twitter CFO caused a ruckus this week when he inadvertently posted a private message rather publicly on Twitter.
“I still think we should buy them. He is on your schedule for Dec 15 or 16 — we will need to sell him. i have a plan,” Noto tweeted, presumably referring to an impending acquisition.
Storm in a teacup
The tweet was quickly deleted, but not before it was noticed, copied and sure enough went viral.
Noto has declined to comment on the unintentional tweet , although it's speculated he was discussing news site Mic News.
While the contents of the tweet weren't damaging per se, it's an embarrassing move when Twitter's CFO gets confused between direct messaging and tweeting.
Correspond with care.
