It seems Twitter just can't get enough of dabbling in TV.
The platform recently launching a content discovery tool, and is now experimenting with a feature aimed at optimising second-screen viewing.
Screen time
Twitter is reportedly working on a TV conversation management tool that recognises when select users mention a related hashtag, character name, or key phrase from affiliated TV shows.
These users receive an invitation to try Twitter TV Timelines, which brings up a new page featuring three columns titled Highlights, Media and All. Rich media including photos and video is also displayed.
The layout is similar to TweetDeck, and seems designed to help users discover other real-time tweets during their favourite shows.
Tune in
While the feature is still being tested, it hints at a deepening integration between Twitter and TV.
Twitter recently recently published a study showing TV ads with hashtags led to both a higher volume of tweets and higher quality responses.
Stay tuned to see if Facebook responds with a similar feature.
